We had dinner at Naumkeag Ordinary tonight and it was quite good. I couldn’t stop thinking about the word Naumkeag though. Here’s a few other words that get stuck in my head: serendipity, discombobulate, obfuscate, ennui, juxtapose.
Play along at home, what words seem to keep popping into your head?
Tonight’s song is Detroit, Lift Up Your Weary Head! by Sufjan Stevens. I think this works perfectly with the theme of this blog because near the end of the song it just turns into free-association with themes and places in Michigan. I love this album so much, it’s probably my most listened-to album I own. I had a realization while listening to this album tonight that this music makes me the best kind of sad. It’s like bittersweet nostalgia.
Continuing with last night’s subject of choice – drinking – here’s one from my buddy Joe’s 30th. After we took these it felt like we time-travelled home.

This is a specially brewed beer by Sam Adams. I enjoyed a tasting from my brother-in-law who works for said company and wow did this catch me off guard. They age it over this crazy elaborate process and distill it down until it’s this really dark potent brew. Every time I tried sipping it I thought I was ready for it and each time it caught me off guard. I guess it’s not for me.
